Jones came around to score on a two-out double by Davis giving Webster a quick 2-0 lead. Hopkinsville cut the lead to 2-1 in the bottom of the first and then tied the game at 2-2 in the third.

Bailey Townsend’s RBI-groundout scored one run and Davis followed with another run-scoring safety for the 4-2 lead.

Webster put the game away in the sixth with a six-run rally. Back-to-back walks to Kelsey Mayes and Kayleigh Wood set the table for a RBI-double off the bat of Kristin Jones. Papineau then delivered a triple to chase home two more Lady Trojans. Jerrica Jones’ single scored Papineau and Jones scored one out later on a single from Kaylyn Winders. Davis put the finishing touches on the uprising with an RBI-single to plate Winders and push Webster’s lead to 10-2. Madison Yates and Kristin Jones both singled and scored in the sixth to set the final score.

Webster stranded six runners while Hopkinsville left nine on base.

The Lady Trojans are back in action Thursday, hosting arch-rival Henderson County in Dixon. They will participate in the Lone Oak Invitational Friday and Saturday and then back on the road Monday at Lyon County.
