KENTUCKY (10/27/2012) - It’s inevitable, we will all mess up. Each and every one of us will sin, daily, and fall short of God’s glory. Still, why is it that so many feel like they have sinned to much to be forgiven? Why is it that we teach that Christ died for our sins, but fail to let the world know that forgiveness is so close, if we just reach for it?
Many times in life, we mess up. All to often, we fail so badly that we feel like there is no way back to God’s thrown. Perhaps, our past is what is keeping us from accepting Jesus’ gift in the first place. So often, people feel like they don’t deserve God’s forgiveness, due to their past sins. Still, there is a fact that we must share with the world…a hope that we have hidden away.
You see, over 2000 years ago, Jesus walked this earth. He didn’t just walk it, though, He lived the perfect life. Sinless, blameless, He was perfect. Still, He was crucified, and hung on a cross for sins He never committed. Why? Why would God in the flesh die for sins He didn’t do? Is there a reason for His death? Did He die in vain?
You see, when Jesus hung on that tree, He did so for you. It wasn’t anything He had done, it wasn’t to prove anything, and it wasn’t to shut satan up. No, He hung there and died for you. It was your sins He was carrying. Understand, before Jesus, God demanded a perfect sacrifice to forgive sins. There was a barrier that stood between God’s creation and Himself.
When Jesus died on that cross, He shed His blood…the perfect sacrifice for your sins. He didn’t speak out, He didn’t whisper, no He cried out with a proclaiming voice…as His life left His body, Jesus Christ cried out, “It is finished!” It was just that, finished. The sacrifice was done, the dept paid, your soul purchased.
How amazing?! Jesus died for your sins, and in doing so that barrier between God and the world ripped apart (literally). You see, despite popular beliefs, no matter what the world says, you can cry out to God…right now. There is nothing standing between you and the perfect God that adores and loves you. There is nothing you could have done that will keep Him from loving you and welcoming you to His family.
Forgiveness. It is there, for anyone who wants it. Is there a pain or guilt that is haunting you today? Is there something that seems to hold you back, keeping you from reaching your true potential? Do you have that longing to feel free and forgiven?
If so, here is some great news…the blessing and gift that is waiting for us all. You see; we all fall, we all sin…Christian or not…we all sin. None of us deserve God’s love and grace. Still, grace (receiving something you don’t deserve) and mercy (not receiving what you do deserve) is there for us all.
How hard is it to get that forgiveness, that love mercy and grace? All you have to do is pray, cry out and ask God for it. That’s it, the secret to God’s forgiveness. The best part is, once He forgives you, He forgets…your slate is clean. No, you won’t live a perfect life. Yes, you will sin and mess up. Still, if you give you heart to Jesus, accept His gift (His life, the price He paid), then there is always forgiveness. No sin is unforgivable, except not accepting Jesus’ gift to you. Want to be free, to feel that guilt lift away and know that you are clean in God’s eyes? It’s not that far, for sinner or for saint, there is always forgiveness.
