KENTUCKY (12/19/12) – Merry Christmas! Is everyone ready for this very special time of year? I am reminded that every morning we have “choice” in this life. This time of year for many is a stressful burden and for others it is a time of pure joy. We have the ability to choose how this time of year is for ourselves.
Christmas always warms my heart. It is as if God’s love melts away the ice my heart has accumulated over the entire year. I have a special message for you this Christmas. It has been our goal here at AgendaTruth.com to help fundamentally restore America. Today we would like to put the world aside and help to prepare our hearts and minds to fundamentally restore the meaning of Christmas!
God has blessed me with three wonderful children and a loving wife. I would not trade any of them for the world. I can remember a time in our lives when Christmas was a tough time of year. It seems that no matter how hard I worked it just seem nearly impossible to afford “something special” for everyone in my family. When your children ask for that one special gift, with the cost of household bills that still must be paid, that special gift often is out of a feasible price range. I remember feeling like a real loser when I felt unworthy of being a husband and father because I could not provide the things that I thought were important.
Later a business I started finally started gaining some traction. It was 2008 I believe and I remember that Christmas my wife and I went all out. We bought just about whatever anyone wanted. The gifts were piled like a mountain. That year I did NOT feel like a winner.
The world has progressively sold us on the idea that Christmas is about presents and gifts of China made toys, over-priced clothes, and other non-important things. Christmas is indeed about a gift, but not in the way the world would lead you to believe. Christmas is about the gift of LIFE.
Christmas is about the gift of life that God gave to the world in the birth of His Son Jesus Christ. The life of Jesus is the only gift that anyone of us can receive that gives us the gift of eternal life. The pagans of the world will gladly argue that December 25th is a pagan holiday representing the winter solstice. While we can never be sure that Jesus’ actual calendar birthday occurred on December 25th, I find glory in God that His power is able to take a pagan holiday and turn it toward Him and make it Holy. This special time of year can only be restored to a pagan holiday if God’s people allow it. God gives us the gift of “choice” along with our gift of life.
The Christmas tree is commonly characterized as a pagan representation of the Christmas celebration. The Christmas tree is not a holiday tree. It is a Christmas tree. It is a direct representation of the gift of life that God has given to us and the gift of eternal life he is offering.
First the Christmas tree is an evergreen. This is a representation of the everlasting life offered through Jesus Christ. The Christmas tree in shape forms an arrow design; pointing in the direction we are to turn our attention toward. On top of the Christmas tree is a star representing to follow the star and you will find the Messiah. I have often considered that the wise men in their daily lives were not very wise at all, but they became wise by following the calling of God and for seeking the Messiah.
The Christmas tree represents our walk through life. In the beginning our options are widely open but as we move along in life (closer to the top) our path narrows. The Bible teaches wide is the path but narrow is the way. The lights on the Christmas tree represent that throughout our journey God is always with us lighting our path. The ornaments represent the special people and moments in our life journey. The presents at the bottom of the tree represent the world that we leave behind as we turn our focus toward God and seek His glory.
Lastly I have learned that God not only gives us the gift of life, but He also gives us the gift of “lives”. He gives each of us personally one life of our own. However God gives us the gift of all the lives of the people around us. I have discovered that the worldly gifts under the tree are really unimportant, but it is the gift of the people around the tree that truly is precious and priceless. If you look at your family and friends there is only one of each of them in the entire world. I guarantee you that the present under the tree is under thousands of other trees.
So here is my message to you for this Christmas.
Be good to each other and love each other. Do not stress over the gifts and toys. Your children will remember the time and love you give them. The stuff of this world will fade away from their memories like dust in the wind. Enjoy your family in smiles and laughter. You truly never know how much time God has placed in our gift of life.
If you feel like a loser because you could not buy everything you wanted to for others, just know that buying everything for them doesn’t make you a winner. Give the family and friends around you the biggest sincere hug and good times; it will last a lifetime in their memories.
Lastly, seek the baby Jesus and accept his offer of eternal life. In doing so, you become a wise man.
