HENDERSON, Ky. (5/31/14) — The Kentucky State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division will be participating in the 2014 Roadcheck detail, an international detail that will take place June 3-5 throughout the United States, Canada and Mexico.
Annual Roadchecks, which began in 1988, are sponsored by the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance, North America’s leading commercial vehicle safety enforcement organization. Kentucky State Police CVE officers and inspectors will be focusing on level 1 safety inspections throughout the course of the detail. A level 1 inspection is the most thorough and in depth inspection an officer can perform.
Each level 1 inspection is a 37 step procedure that includes an examination of the driver and vehicle. The driver inspection includes items such as the operator's license and endorsements, hours of service, possible use of alcohol and drugs, and the use of seat belts. The vehicle inspection includes items such as the brake system, coupling devices, exhaust system, frame, fuel system, lights, safe loading, steering mechanism, suspension, tires, trailer bodies, wheels, windshield and windshield wipers, and emergency exits on buses.
We at the Kentucky State Police will work tirelessly throughout the course of the Roadcheck detail to ensure the safety of citizens traveling on the roadways of the Commonwealth.Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Region 1 serves the following counties: Ballard, Carlisle, Fulton, Graves, Hickman, Livingston, Lyon, McCracken, Marshall, Trigg, Caldwell, Calloway, Christian, Crittenden, Hopkins, Muhlenberg, Todd, Webster, Daviess, Hancock, Henderson, McLean, Ohio, and Union.
