WASHINGTON (7/31/14) — Representative Ed Whitfield (KY-01), Chairman of the Subcommittee on Energy and Power, supported H.R. 3230, the Veterans' Access to Care through Choice, Accountability, and Transparency Act of 2014, which passed by a vote of 420 to 5.
This bill is expected to be voted on by the Senate before the August district work period.
It is also expected that the President will sign it into law.
“No veterans should ever be denied the care they rightly earned, nor should they experience the delays and backlogs that have plagued Veterans Affairs facilities across the country,” said Whitfield. “I am absolutely appalled that veterans in and around my district are experiencing these problems first hand. By creating the opportunity for veterans to receive care from independent facilities and new doctors, we are taking steps to help our American heroes when they need it most.”
