UK Soccer v2 300LEXINGTON, Ky. (8/13/14) — Kentucky junior goalkeeper Callum Irving was named first-team All-Conference USA, and UK standouts Bryan Celis, Napo Matsoso and Jordan Wilson were named second-team all-conference, it was announced Wednesday.

Irving earned his second All-Conference USA First Team selection of the year, as the league coaches also tabbed the junior netminder on their all-conference team. Celis, a junior midfielder, Matsoso, a sophomore midfielder, and Wilson, a sophomore center back were each named second-team All-Conference USA.

A native of Houston, Celis has played in 33 games with 23 starts in his two-year career. He owns one goal and seven assists, firing 19 shots with 10 coming on target. His lone goal was a game-winning tally as a freshman in 2012, adding four assists. In 2013, while starting all 12 games he played, Celis tallied three assists.

A native of Vancouver, British Columbia, Irving earned first-team All-Conference USA in 2013 for the Wildcats. Irving started 16 games as a sophomore, owning a 1.09 goals-against average, with 46 saves and six shutouts. In his two-year career, Irving has started three games, with a 1.21 goals-against average and seven shutouts.

Matsoso, born in Masseru, Lesotho, earned Conference USA All-Freshman Team accolades in 2013, tallying one goal and five assists in 20 starts.

Wilson, a native of Auchterarder, Scotland, made 17 starts as a freshman in 2013, anchoring the UK backline at center back. Wilson, a 6-foot-3, 170-pounder, took four shots, with three coming on target.

The preseason All-Conference USA team was announced by College Sports Madness. C-USA announced its preseason team last week.

Kentucky, under the direction of third-year head coach Johan Cedergren, will open its 2014 season with its annual exhibition tilt at Northern Kentucky Sunday, 7 p.m. ET in Highland Heights, Ky. After a final exhibition tune-up vs. Georgia State on Aug. 23 at the new Bell Soccer Complex, UK will open its 2014 season at Wright State Aug. 29, 7 p.m. ET.
