WEBSTER COUNTY, KY (11/7/12) – The following is your weekly update of law enforcement activity in and around the Webster County area.
Providence Police
Providence Police Chief Brent McDowell reported the following arrests and accident:
Tue., Nov. 6, 10:00 a.m.
•Susan Whitfield, 33 of Providence, was arrested on a Bench Warrant from Christian County.
•Byron Alderson, 48 of Henderson, was arrested for Expired Registration, No Insurance 2nd offence, 2nd Degree Possession of a Controlled Substance 1st offense and Prescription of a Controlled Substance Not in Proper Container 1st offence.
Sheriff’s Report
Webster County Sheriff Frankie Springfield reported the following activity:
Tue., Oct. 23, 8:58 p.m.
An accident occurred on US41 in Sebree. According to Deputy Scott Starkey, Nancy Hobgood was traveling on US41 when she was sideswiped by another vehicle. Hobgood’s 2007 Toyota Rav4 received very minor damage on the driver’s side and left the scene under its own power. The second vehicle did not stop.
Fri., Oct. 26, 4:47 a.m.
An accident occurred on KY983 near Dixon. According to Deputy Cory Patmore, Patrick Barron, 21 of Morganfield, was traveling westbound in his 2004 Toyota Corolla when he lost control of his vehicle. He struck and embankment and rolled over, coming to rest on the roof of the car. There were no injuries reported but Barron’s vehicle had to be towed.
Fri., Oct. 26, 7:32 a.m.
An accident occurred on KY630 near Dixon. According to Deputy Donald Jones, Faith Baty, 17 of Dixon, was pulling her 2010 Kia Optima out of her driveway when she failed to yield the right of way to Julie Fulcher, 24 of Waverly. Fulcher tried to stop but could not avoid the accident. Fulcher’s 2007 Chevy Cobalt was towed and Baty’s Kia was left at the scene. There were no injuries reported.
Fri., Oct. 26, 10:15 a.m.
An accident occurred on the Breathitt Parkway near Sebree. According to Deputy Jay Workins, Krystal Demoss, 27 of Nortonville, was southbound on the Pennyrile Breathitt Parkway when her 2006 Ford Mustang hydro-planed. She crossed the median into the northbound lane before finally coming to rest back in the median. There were no injuries reported but Demoss’ vehicle had to be towed.
Sun., Oct. 28, 6:37 a.m.
An accident occurred on US41 near Sebree. According to Deputy Cory Patmore, Aaron Kellar, 22 of Slaughters, was traveling north bound in his 2005 Ford Taurus when a deer entered the roadway. He was unavailable to avoid striking the animal. There were no injuries reported, and Kellar’s vehicle left under its own power.
Mon., Oct. 30, 1:53 p.m.
An accident occurred on KY983 near Dixon. According to Deputy Donald Jones, Nathan Rodgers, 24 of Nortonville, was stopped in the roadway to allow a tractor to pass, when Tomasinna West, 42 of Sebree, topped a hill in her 2007 Chevy Malibu. She attempted to stop, but went into a skid, striking Rodger’s 2007 Dodge Ram in the rear. No injuries were reported. West’s vehicle was towed, but Rodger’s left the scene under its own power.
State Police
Twenty-five civilian employees were honored by the Kentucky State Police at a ceremony held on October 23, 2012 at the Capital Plaza Hotel in Frankfort. Mr. James Offutt, Police Telecommunicator II from Post 2 – Madisonville, received the Police Communications Support Award at this ceremony for his outstanding job performance. Only four out of approximately 190 KSP telecommunicators receive this prestigious award.
A native of Madisonville, Mr. Offutt began his career as a KSP telecommunicator in September of 1988. He currently resides in Madisonville with his wife of 43 years, Cindy. The Offutt's have two grown children, Craig and Aaron.
KSP Commissioner Rodney Brewer stated, “These award winners represent the best of the best of our civilian employees. They truly are the underpinning of the Kentucky State Police and epitomize the professional image that we constantly strive to project.”
