Skinner, Layton, Frederick, Overby Retain Providence Council Seats

providencecityc green 300WEBSTER COUNTY, KY (11/7/12) - In the Providence City Council race, four of the sitting council members retained their position.

All six of the incumbents ran for re-election, and they were joined by five others seeking their positions.

Keith Ferrell, a former council member, received the most votes, 610. Incumbents Shannon Cole Layton was close behind with 587, followed by Scott Frederick with 578. Newcomer grabbed Doug Hammers 573 votes while incumbent Dolores Overby retained her seat with 525 votes. Tom Skinner, also an incumbent, took the final seat with 506.

Those failing to earn enough votes for the City Council were incumbents Robert Hatcher, 492 and Robert Allen with 450.

Other vote getters challenging for a seat were Teresa Turner; 432; James “Chip” Palmer, 365; and Randall Simms with 334.
 
In the print version of the paper Robert Allen was incorrectly listed as winning and Tom Skinner was incorrectly listed as losing. The vote totals were correct.
