Sebree, Clay, Dixon Races; 'No' to alcohol

Vote 300WEBSTER COUNTY, KY (11/7/12) Seven candidates ran for six open seats on the Clay City Council.

Gerry L. Vaughn was the only non-incumbent on the ballot, and he failed to win a seat on the council, coming in seventh with 293 votes.

Todd Vanover was the top vote getter with 399. Jackie Edens received 359, with Patty Dennis earning 325, Jerrell Rich getting 323, Jeff Hanor receiving 318 and Paul Cowan taking the final seat with 316 votes.

In Dixon, Aurthur Little was the top vote candidate for City Commission, getting 203 votes. Jennifer Stone and David Royster both received 180 while John Ramsey got 175.

In the Sebree Council race the incumbents led the way once again. Ozzie O’Nan was the highest vote getter, with 368 votes. Mark Moser had 343, Brenda Margelot got 334, Kenny Wright received 313, Petie O’Nan had 286 and Harold Orrick taking the last council seat with 283. James Williams did not make the council with only 218 votes.

Slaughters Mayor Jeff Coomes, who took over the Mayor's office when former Mayor Donald Winstead retired in June, got 000 votes.

Only two candidates filed for the four spots on the Slaughters Commission. Wayne Stallard received 000 votes while Debbie Stallard got 000.

In Sebree the voters have spoken and the city will remain dry.

Results as of 9:00 pm last night showed that residents of Sebree stood in clear opposition to the ballot question which would have allowed the sale of alcoholic beverages in conjunction with a meal in any establishment that seated at least 50 people.

The referendum failed 0-0.

With 313 votes, Petie O’Nan had 299 and Harold Orrick taking the last council seat with 291. James Williams did not make the council with only 218 votes.

Slaughters Mayor Jeff Coomes, who took over the Mayor's office when former Mayor Donald Winstead retired in June, got 72 votes.

Only two candidates filed for the four spots on the Slaughters Commission. Wayne Stallard and Debbie Stallard received 50 votes apiece.

In Sebree the voters have spoken and the city will remain dry.

Results as of 9:00 p.m. Tuesday night showed that residents of Sebree stood in clear opposition to the ballot question which would have allowed the sale of alcoholic beverages in conjunction with a meal in any establishment that seated at least 50 people.

The referendum failed 270-180.
