WEBSTER COUNTY, KY (11/14/12) – The following is your weekly update of law enforcement activity in and around the Webster County area.

Providence Police
Providence Police Chief Brent McDowell reported the following arrests and accident:

Tue., Nov. 13, 10:00 a.m.
•Donny Lofton Jr., 38 of Providence, was cited to court for Failure to Produce Insurance Card and Disregarding Stop Sign.
•Kattie Harmon, 40 of Providence, was arrested for Carrying a Concealed Weapon, Failure to Produce Insurance Card and having only one headlight.

Sheriff’s Report
Webster County Sheriff Frankie Springfield reported the following activity for the month of October: There were a total of 28 motor vehicle accidents, 11 criminal l arrests, 22 warrants served, 90 subpoenas served, 67 civil summons served, 52 juvenile summons served, 2 EPOs served, 13 motions served, 9 Criminal complaints filed, 6 out of county prisoners transported, 3 juveniles transported to McCracken County Juvenile Detention, 57 vehicles inspected and 26 Concealed Carry Permits Processed.

Webster County Sheriff Frankie Springfield reported the following activity:

Thursday., Nov. 1, 4:28 a.m.
An accident occurred on KY 670 in Providence.
According to Deputy Cory Patmore, Brent Lovell, 24 of Central City, was operating a 2009 Ford F-250SD west bound when a deer entered the roadway. He was unable to avoid the animal.
Lovell reported minor shoulder pain but refused treatment. His work truck sustained moderate damage but remained in service.

Friday., Nov. 2, 4:33 a.m.
An accident occurred on US 41A near Poole. According to Deputy Cory Patmore, Kathy Nally, 35 of Madisonville, was traveling north bound in her 1992 Plymouth Acclaim when a deer entered the roadway. She attempted to swerve, but went off the right side of the road and struck an embankment head on. Nally was arrested on charges of operating under the influence. There were no injuries reported and the vehicle was towed.

Friday., Nov. 2, 2:26 p.m.
An accident occurred on KY 983 near Dixon. According to Deputy Donald Jones, Maci Mach, 22 of Providence, was traveling north bound when she crossed the center line entering a curve. When she tried to correct she went into a skid, spun 180 degrees and exited the road. Her 1998 Ford Taurus struck and embankment and then spun again, striking the embankment with the rear of the car. There were no injuries reported, but the vehicle was towed.

Friday., Nov. 2, 6:39 p.m.
An accident occurred on KY 370 two miles west of Onton. According to Deputy Steve Madden, Jeremy Buchanan, 36 of Sebree, was unable to avoid a deer that entered the roadway. Buchanan’s 2003 Chevy 1500 was severely damaged and had to be towed. There were no injuries reported.

Wed., Nov. 7, 11:32 a.m.
An accident occurred on KY 983 near Dixon. According to Deputy Donald Jones, Brian Franklin, 30 of Dixon, lost control of his 2007 Chevy Silverado entering a curve and exited the road, striking a fence post. There were no injuries reported but the vehicle was towed. A section of the fence was down due to the accident.

Webster County Circuit Court

The following court cases were presented in Webster County Circuit Court recently:
•Omea Michelle Freeman was granted Pretrial Diversion for a period of five years on charges of three counts of 2nd Degree Forgery and Theft by Unlawful Taking. In addition, the defendant will serve thirty days in county jail starting Nov. 24.
•Victoria N. Hogan entered a guilty plea on two charges of 1st Degree Trafficking in a Controlled Substance, a class C felony, and one count of 2nd Degree Trafficking in a Controlled Substance, a class D felony. Judge Rene Williams sentenced Hogan to a maximum term of three years in prison to run concurrently with each other for a maximum of three years.
•Jason Wood, after serving more than thirty days but less than 180, was granted shock probation by Judge Rene Williams.

State Police

For the month of October 2012, Post 2 reports the following activity:
•Arrested 36 Impaired Drivers
•Issued a Total of 1,881 Citations
•Issued 597 Speeding Citations
•Issued 269 Seatbelt Citations
•Issued 21 Child Restraint Citations
•Issued 679 Courtesy Notices
•Investigated 87 Traffic Crashes
•Assisted 145 Stranded Motorists
•Responded to 857 Calls for Service
•Opened 46 Criminal Cases
•Made 201 Criminal Arrest

There were 3 fatal crashes that resulted in the loss of 3 lives reported in the Post 2 District in October 2012. Single fatalities occurred in Christian, Hopkins, and Muhlenberg Counties. Two victims were not wearing a seatbelt and one victim was wearing a seatbelt.

Through October 31, 2012, there have been 23 fatal crashes that resulted in the loss of 24 lives reported in the Post 2 District: 13 victims were not wearing seatbelts, 5 victims were wearing seatbelts, 1 victim was not wearing a helmet, 4 victims were wearing a helmet, and 1 victim was a pedestrian.
