Brief Dixon Commission Meeting

dixoncomm blueWEBSTER COUNTY, KY (11/14/12) - Dixon Commission held a brief monthly meeting Monday night

Rob Melton with Hunter Martin Associates in Paducah presented the commission with the result of bids to update the city’s water services.

In September the commission awarded Brown Services the bid to replace current water meters with radio meters. The meters will allow a city employee with the proper equipment to take a reading just by driving by the meter. Scott Enlow, also of Hunter Brown said that project will cost around $450,000.

The current bid was for the price of the water meters, billing software and new computers to work with the system. Rob Martin recommended a $109,975 bid from Construction Site Services, which the commission approved.

Next the commission heard from June Wright with Mid-Continent University in Mayfield. Mid-Continent University ADVANTAGE is an accelerated degree completion program to meet the needs of working adults who are 24 years of age or older and have an associate degree or two years of college.

Finally the commission ended with the second reading of a boundary ordinance for the City of Dixon.
