WEBSTER COUNTY, KY (12/12/12) - The Emergency Food and Shelter National Board Program has chosen Webster County to be the recipient of $5,028 worth of funding to supplement emergency food and shelter programs in the county.
The National Board is comprised of representatives of the American Red Cross, Catholic Charities, National Council of Churches of Christ in the US, The Jewish Federation of North America, The Salvation Army and United Way Worldwide. This board is responsible for distributing these funds, appropriated by Congress, to areas around the country considered high need.
Locally the responsibility of distributing the money will fall to the local board. That board is made up of the Judge Executive, American Red Cross, The Salvation Army, Audubon Area Community Services, United Way and local citizens.
Under the terms of the grant from the National Board, local agencies chosen to receive funds must be private voluntary non-profit organizations, be eligible to take federal funding, have an accounting system, practice nondiscrimination, be capable of delivering emergency food and/or shelter programs and have a voluntary board. Any group that meets these requirements are urged to apply.
The deadline is Monday December 17, 2012. Contact Paula Guinn at 270-639-5042 for an application.
