WEBSTER COUNTY, KY (12/19/12) - The following is your weekly update of law enforcement activity in and around the Webster County area.

Providence Police

Providence Police Chief Brent McDowell reported the following arrests and accident:

Tue., Dec. 18, 10:00 a.m.
•Deborah Norman, 44 of Providence, was served a summons to court for Theft by Failure to Make Required Disposition of Property.
•James Mason, 55 of Providence, was arrested for Failure to comply with Sex Offender Registration.
•Melissa Watson, 27 of Providence, was arrested for Failure of Owner to Maintain Required Insurance/Security.
•John Bowling, 71 of Providence, was arrested for 4th Degree Assault.
•Donny Lofton Jr., 38 of Clay, was arrested for 1st Degree Sexual Abuse of a Victim Under 12 Years of Age.
•James Fox, 50 of Providence, was arrested for Alcohol Intoxication in a Public Place.
 
Sheriff’s Report

Webster County Sheriff Frankie Springfield reported the following accident:

Thu., Dec. 6, 3:40 p.m.
An accident occurred on KY109 a mile south of Clay. According to Deputy Donald Jones, Jennifer Machen, 34 of Clay, was heading northbound on 109 and reported that she didn’t know what happened. Her car traveled off the road and struck an earthen embankment. Machen was transported to Baptist Hospital by personal vehicle for treatment. Her 2007 Honda Accord sustained moderate damage and was towed from the scene.
 
State Police

Statistics indicate that 10 people died in 10 separate crashes on Kentucky’s roadways from Monday, Dec. 10 through Sunday, Dec. 16, 2012.
 
One single-fatality motor vehicle crash occurred in each of the following counties: Christian, Clay, Clinton, Daviess, Fayette, Gallatin, Laurel, Scott and Wolfe. The victims in Daviess, Gallatin and Laurel counties were not wearing seat belts.

Through Dec. 16, preliminary statistics indicate that 709 people have lost their lives on Kentucky roadways during 2012. This is 10 more than reported for this time period in 2011. Of the 564 motor vehicle fatalities, 307 victims were not wearing seat belts. Of the 73 motorcycle fatalities, 38 were not wearing a helmet. Eleven of the 13 ATV fatalities were not wearing a helmet. Fifty-two pedestrians, one scooter/moped rider and seven bicycle riders have been killed. A total of 128 fatalities have resulted from crashes involving the suspected use of alcohol.

Citizens can contribute to highway safety by reporting erratic drivers to the Kentucky State Police toll-free at 1-800-222-5555 (in the state of Kentucky only, does not work out of state). Callers will remain anonymous and should give a description of the vehicle, location, direction of travel and license number if possible.
 
Webster County - Circuit Court

The following court cases were presented in Webster County Circuit Court recently:
•Scott A. Sullivan had his probation revoked by Judge Rene Williams and was re-sentenced to serve five years in the State Penitentiary.
•Albert Michael Capps, 56, entered a plea of guilty on charges of Manufacturing Methamphetamine by Complicity, a class B felony, Possession of Anhydrous Ammonia in an Unapproved Container with Intent to Manufacture Meth, a class B felony, 1st Degree Trafficking in a Controlled Substance by Complicity, a class C felony, Use or Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, a class A misdemeanor and Possession of Marijuana by Complicity, a class A misdemeanor. Judge Rene Williams sentenced Capps to ten years for each felony count and twelve months for each misdemeanor, all to run concurrently.
•Albert Michael Capps, 56, entered a plea of guilty on charges of 1st Degree Possession of a Controlled Substance and was sentenced to three years in prison to run consecutively with a the previous case for a total of ten years.
•Kristina Renee Figueroa, 23, plead guilty on charges of 1st Degree Trafficking in a Controlled Substance, a class D felony, Trafficking in Marijuana, a class D felony, Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence of Drugs or Alcohol, a class B misdemeanor and Use or Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, a class A misdemeanor. She was sentenced to maximum of five years for each felony charge and thirty days for each misdemeanor, to run concurrently for a total of five years in prison.

Webster County - Grand Jury

The Webster County Grand Jury convened on Dec 11. During their session, the grand jury indicted:
•Craig T. Bloomer on charges of 1st Degree Wanton Endangerment, 1st Degree Fleeing or Evading Police, Failure to Signal, Disregarding Stop Sign, Improper Passing, Driving While License Suspended and 2nd Offense DUI.
•David L. Bloodworth on charges of 1st Degree Possession of a Controlled Substance, Use or Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence of Drugs or Alcohol.
•Brandon Eden Jones on a charge of Receiving Stolen Property, under $10,000.
•Gary Dewayne Walker on a charge of being a Convicted Felon in Possession of a Firearm.
•Traci A. Wilmouth on charges of Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence of Drugs or Alcohol, 4th Offense, Driving on a Suspended License, 2nd Offense, Failure of non-owner to Maintain Required Insurance, 2nd Offense and Failure to Signal.
 
Deeds
•Alvy Ray Marks and Linda Gale Brooks to Daniel Robert Brooks and Pamela Jane Gray.
•Ricky Tompkins, Rhonda S. Hancock and Harold E. Hancock to Kenneth Michael Jackson and Marcia Lee Jackson.

•Charlene Elizabeth Mason, 20 of Clay, to Joseph Lee Shane McBride, 21 of Clay.
