WEBSTER COUNTY, Ky. (12/26/12) – The following is your weekly update of law enforcement activity in and around the Webster County area.
Sheriff’s Report
Webster County Sheriff Frankie Springfield reported the following accident:
Fri., Dec. 14, 11:00 a.m.
An accident occurred on KY120 six miles south of Providence. According to Sheriff Frankie Springfield, Claud L. Alsbrook, 59 of Providence, was heading westbound when his dog jumped into his lap, and hit his arm. His vehicle went off the west shoulder and struck a fire hydrant owned by the Webster County Water District. There was moderate damage to Alsbrook’s 2012 Dodge Avenger. There were no injuries reported.
Sat., Dec. 15, 7:16 p.m.
An accident occurred on KY132 one mile south of Dixon. According to Deputy Steve Madden, Wendy Mitchell, 37 of Clay, lost control of her 2007 Cadillac SRX and went off the left side of the road. The vehicle hit and earthen embankment and overturned. There were no injuries reported, but the vehicle was severely damaged and had to be towed.
Sun., Dec. 16, 2:56 a.m.
An accident occurred on Pete Gibson Road three miles west of Slaughters. According to Deputy Cory Patmore, Chelsea Hogart, 21 of Hanson, lost control of her 2001 Ford Explorer and exited the roadway. She then overcorrected and struck an earthen embankment head-on. Lana Wesclett, 21 of Madisonville, a passenger in the vehicle, was transported by Webster County EMS to Baptist Hospital in Madisonville because of head and neck pain. Hogart refused treatment and was transported to the Webster County Detention Center for Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence. Her vehicle was towed.
Sun., Dec. 16, 5:44 a.m.
An accident occurred on KY56 nine miles north of Dixon. According to Deputy Cory Patmore, Daryl R. Biggs, 49 of Henderson, was traveling westbound in a 2007 Freightliner when a larger tanker truck crossed the yellow line and forced him to drop off the shoulder. He overcorrected, crossed the center line and jackknifed. The vehicle then struck an earthen embankment and overturned. Biggs refused medical assistance and was transported by personal vehicle to Methodist Hospital. The truck and trailer were towed.
Wed., Dec. 19, 5:15 p.m.
An accident occurred on KY138 one mile west of Slaughters. According to Deputy Donald Jones, Donald Walden, 65 of Slaughters, was traveling westbound in a 1999 Ford F-150 when two deer ran into the road. Walden could not stop in time to avoid the animals. There were no injuries reported and the vehicle remained in service.
Webster County Circuit Court
The following court cases were presented in Webster County Circuit Court recently:
- Joshua Winningham, 34, entered a plea of guilty on charges of Possession of Anhydrous Ammonia in Unapproved Container with Intent to Manufacture Meth, a class B felony, Manufacturing Methamphetamine, a class B felony, Use or Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, a class A misdemeanor, 2nd Degree Fleeing or Evading Police, a class A misdemeanor, Giving False Name or Address, a class B misdemeanor and being a 1st Degree Persistent Felony Offender. Judge Rene Williams sentenced the defendant to a maximum of seven years in prison.
- Cody Lee Parker, 30, entered a plea of guilty to charges of Theft of a Controlled Substance, a class D felony, 3rd Degree Burglary, a class D felony and two counts of 3rd Degree Criminal Mischief a class B misdemeanor. Judge Rene Williams sentenced the defendant to a maximum of five years in prison.
- Bobby D. Vailes, 36, plead guilty on charges of 1st Degree Possession of a Controlled Substance, a class D felony and Use or Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, a class A misdemeanor. Judge Rene Williams sentenced the defendant to a maximum of one year in prison.
- Steven Wayne Adamson, 32, plead guilty to charges of Tampering with Physical Evidence, a class D felony, 1s Degree Trafficking in a Controlled Substance by Complicity, a class D felony, Use or Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, a class A misdemeanor and being a 1st Degree Persistent Felony Offender. Judge Rene Williams sentenced the defendant to one year prison.
- Sheila Jo Capps plead guilty on charges of Reckless Driving, Tampering with Physical Evidence, a class D felony, 1st Degree Trafficking in a Controlled Substance by Complicity, a class D felony, Use or Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, a class A misdemeanor, Giving False Name or Address, a class B misdemeanor and Aggravated Driving on a DUI Suspended License (2nd Offence in Five Years), a class D felony. Judge Rene Williams sentenced the defendant to one year in prison and opposed probation. The Judge also ordered Capps to pay a $50 fine for the Reckless Driving charge.
