WEBSTER COUNTY, Ky. (1/16/13) - The Clay City Council was in session on Tuesday night,
There was a wreck recently on 109, prompting council members to look at important safety measures. A truck coming from Sturgis came into town traveling at a high rate of speed and missed a turn. The vehicle jumped the sidewalk and went into a ditch.
The council voted to put guard rails up in front of the ditch to prevent future accidents, they also wanted to make the sidewalk there safer for pedestrian traffic.
Mayor Rick Householder instructed city employee Paul Stone to contact the state for help.
Fire Chief Jeremy Moore reported for the Fire Department. In December Clay Rescue responded to 11 rescue runs, and one fire run. The Clay Fire Department participated in the state hazmat training program.
The council heard more discussion on the Nall Street issue, deciding to table it until they have more public input.
Because new council member Todd Vanover left his seat on the ethics board when he was elected to the council. The council appointed Greg Puckett to Vanover’s place. They also voted to reappoint City Clerk Julianna Rhye and Fire Chief Jeremy Moore to their respective positions.
