LEXINGTON, Ky. (8/5/13) – Need an early morning jolt, or a mid-afternoon pick me up? Two coffee shops in Lexington make it their mission to keep a cup of coffee in the hands of their customers.
Third Street Stuff and Coffee is a colorful coffee shop that sits at 257 N. Limestone St., serving organically made coffee and espresso. Enrique Jordan, an employee of the shop, said atmosphere, ambience and the attention paid to the customer are three points of pride for the shop.
“Third Street is where it's at,” said Jordan.
Third Street Stuff also has blends from across the world, including an Ethiopian blend and a Peruvian blend. He says the biggest seller is a large bold blend.
“It's a large Peruvian mix,” said Jordan.
Jordan added that the shop hosts live music and recently participated in Take Back the Night, a protest against sexual assault.
Third Street Stuff and Coffee is open Monday through Saturday from 6:30 a.m to 11 p.m and Sunday from 8 a.m to 11 p.m.
Coffee Grounds Coffee at 343 E. High St, is also always ready to pour you a cup of hot, fresh coffee.
Coffee Grounds offers a wide variety of coffees, espresso drinks and teas, along with a long list of food items that makes it your morning one-stop shop. Food includes breakfast such as muffins and bagels and lunch items like sandwiches, wraps, soups and salads.
The shop also rewards its most loyal customers. With the Coffee Grounds loyalty program, you can earn free coffee. Any coffee drinks that aren't bottled or fountain can earn you anywhere between 10 and 25 points. After reaching 150 points, you'll receive your free drink.
Common Grounds also hosts an open mic night every Monday from 8:30 p.m to 11 p.m. Their hours are 7 a.m to 12 a.m Monday through Friday and 8 a.m to 12 a.m Saturday and Sunday.
On the other end of town? No worries. Coffee Times Coffee House, at 2571 Regency Rd. is filled with over 60 types of coffee, all roasted on-site. At Coffee Times, you can find single-origin beans and various flavored coffees including Kentucky Bourbon and Southern Pecan.
