Woman Dies from Self-Inflicted Wound after Shooting Husband

breakingnews surfky_300aUPDATEDEVSTORYMADISONVILLE, Ky. (1/11/2013) – Earlier today, SurfKY News reported on a domestic dispute that resulted in Roberta “Robbie” Marks, 68, shooting her husband David Marks, 69, outside of their Forest Acres Loop home in Madisonville before turning the gun on herself. In a preliminary news release, the Hopkins County Sheriff’s office now reports that Robbie was not able to overcome her self-inflicted wound and died during surgery. David, who was shot multiple times, is listed in stable condition.

It is now known that, after hearing a single gunshot from inside the residence, deputies entered the home and found Robbie sitting on a bed in the back of the house, still armed with the weapon. After initially refusing to relinquish the gun, deputies disarmed her and administered first aid until Medical Center Ambulance Service Arrived.

As yet, no motive for the attack is known, and witnesses said that the incident seemed out of character for the recently-married, seemingly happy couple.

Sheriff’s Detective Will Coursey is the investigating deputy on the case.
