HOPKINSVILLE, Ky. (5/22/14) ― A single-engine plane crashed along the Breathitt-Pennyrile Parkway between mile marker 7 and 8 in Christian County this afternoon causing the northbound lanes to be closed as rescue workers and emergency responders handled the scene.
By 3:30 p.m. Thursday, May 22, the parkway had reopened as a wrecker left the scene with the plane loaded on deck.
The crash was near the Hopkinsville Airport, according to Kentucky Transportation spokesman Keith Todd.
According to story with WZTV Fox 17 in Nashville, Tenn., its affiliate WHOP in Hopkinsville, reported that father and son, Mike Creed, 58, and Benjamin Creed, 20, both of Hopkinsville were in the plane.
The story said the Creeds attempted to make an emergency landing and aimed for the parkway, but landed on the shoulder of the parkway. Mike Creed was airlifted to Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville. The son was treated at the scene, according to the story.
