WESTERN KENTUCKY (8/6/14) — The governor's office has announced that 34 Kentucky counties will be receiving refunds totaling $399,450 from mining permit and acreage fees.
That money will go to those counties' fiscal courts.
Among the 34 counties are the following western Kentucky counties and the amounts to be refunded:
Daviess County Fiscal Court, $1,475; Henderson County Fiscal Court, $1,188; Hopkins County Fiscal Court, $6,075; McLean County Fiscal Court, $863; Muhlenberg County Fiscal Court, $5,575; Ohio County Fiscal Court, $26,600; Union County Fiscal Court, $3,713; and Webster County Fiscal Court, $12,888.The Department for Natural Resources collects mining permit and acreage fees and returns a portion of the fees to the coal-producing counties for projects that fiscal courts choose.
