KSP works Fatal Crash in Graves County

fatal accidentGRAVES COUNTY, KY (10/22/12) – The Kentucky State Police (KSP) is investigating a single-vehicle fatality collision that occurred on Monday, October 22, 2012 at approximately 6:30 a.m. The collision occurred on KY 849 west of US 45.
 
Preliminary investigation shows that Joseph S. Lacewell, age 36 of Paducah, KY, was operating a 2009 Autocar garbage truck owned by CWI Inc. For an unknown reason, the truck ran off the right shoulder of the roadway, striking a culvert before coming to final rest. The driver’s door was open and Mr. Lacewell was ejected from the vehicle.
 
Assistant Graves County Coroner, Tony Sheridan, pronounced Mr. Lacewell dead at the scene. Mr. Lacewell was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision.
 
Trooper Barry Rice is continuing the investigation. Trooper Rice was assisted on the scene by the Graves County Sheriff’s Department, Mayfield EMS, Graves County Coroner’s Office, Viola Fire Department, and the KY State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division.
