Greenville Fire Department Tries Again to Kick Start Bike Night

friday bike night 300GREENVILLE, Ky. (5/8/13) – They say "Third time's a charm". The Greenville Fire Department is hoping that holds true this weekend, as they try for a third weekend in a row to kick off their Friday Night Bike Night.

Two Friday nights in a row, bad weather has caused officials to postpone what was to be a weekly Friday Bike Night, featuring live music, great food and prizes for all ages.

This past weekend, Saturday's car show in Greenville was also cancelled. Both events had been set to run throughout the summer, helping to raise funds for badly needed equipment and safety gear used by members of the Greenville Fire Department.

This Friday, weather permitting, the world's most awesome choppers make their way to Greenville's courthouse square, with a People's Choice Award, and Judges' Choice Award.

The group OVERCOME will perform live on stage at 6.

Next Friday, come enjoy music from the band JUST US. Memorial Day weekend there will be no bike night, but it will return on May 31st with a Battle of the Bands. According to Barry Waltrip of the Greenville Fire Department, there will be three bands in the competition, with the winner heading to the final night of competition on August 23rd, to compete for $1000.

The GFD Car Show scheduled for this Saturday, May 11th, has been postponed, and Special Events Chairman Barry Waltrip told SurfKY News Reporters that it will be moved to a new date to be announced.

For complete details on both events, or to donate to the fire department's fundraising, call 270-977-7909.
