Newly Formed 'Teenage Republicans' Group has First Meeting

FRANKFORT, Ky. (6/17/13) – The newly formed Muhlenberg County High School Chapter of TARS (Teenage Republicans) recently enjoyed their first speaker.

Jason Hasert, Field Representative for US Senator Rand Paul, visited with the group at Philly's in Greenville, KY. Mr. Hasert shared with the group his experiences in discovering politics in College, joining the college Republican Club, interning for elected officials, and working in Washington DC on Capitol Hill.
 
Hasert, a native of New England, now resides in Western Kentucky and represents Senator Paul in a 17 county area. There were several issues discussed, including the national debt, the Coal Industry, the 2nd Amendment, and Healthcare. Mr. Hasert relayed to them Senator Paul's desire to be of help to the citizens. The student were also interested in who Senator Paul was as a person, discovering that he was a family man, that had a desire to be home with his family when he had the opportunity.
 
TARS, one of the three official auxiliaries of the Republican Party, is a national, youth-based organization challenging, training, and assisting teens to become involved in their local, state, and national political processes.
 
TARS across the nation sway elections, gain first-hand knowledge of the political process, develop leadership skills and perform community service acts.
 
National TARS has clubs in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and abroad with members in the tens of thousands. Clubs are organized on and off campus into middle school, high school, homeschooled, county and city clubs.
