Muhlenberg County School Retirement Recognition Night held at West Campus

school retirementPOWDERLY, Ky. (7/10/13) – Several hard-working Muhlenberg School System employees enjoyed their last day in style Monday, July 8th, at a special dinner and award presentation at the Felix Martin Jr. Hall on the Muhlenberg West Campus.

Gail Johnson, Public Relations and Community Education Director for the school system, noted to the crowd that the "twenty-three retirees retiring this year represent a total of 581 years of dedicated experience to our school system."

Each retiree was given the Royal Treatment at the Muhlenberg County School System Retirement Recognition Night.

State Representative Brent Yonts was on hand to present each of those present with an official certificate making each a "Kentucky Colonel".

Several of those retiring were school bus drivers, and Yonts noted that he had no trouble remembering his school's bus driver, since he attended school in a one room school house where the same person taught all grades 1 through 6.

Interim Supt. Sonny Fentress told the retirees, "On behalf of the Muhlenberg Board of Education I want to say 'Thank you' for a job well done. Enjoy your retirement. You have all earned it. /
