police with mugUPDATE: CENTRAL CITY, Ky. (7/14/14) — The woman KSP charged in the shooting death of her ex-husband has been incarcerated after being hospitalized for ingesting a large quantity of prescription medications.

According to a Kentucky State Police report released Monday, July 14, Brenda M. Hardin was released from Muhlenberg Community Hospital Saturday, July 12 and lodged in the Muhlenberg Detention Center at about 9:41 a.m., Saturday, July 12.

UPDATE: CENTRAL CITY, Ky. (7/8/14) — An arrest warrant for the person allegedly responsible for the death of a Central City man Monday night has been issued.

According to a Kentucky State Police report Tuesday afternoon, KSP Det. Lonnie Kavanaugh's investigation resulted in an arrest warrant for Brenda M. Hardin, 61, Central City, in the death of her ex-husband, Ronnie E. Hardin, 64, Central City.

An autopsy was performed at the State Medical Examiner's Office Tuesday in Madisonville, which revealed that Ronnie E. Hardin died from a single gunshot.

Brenda M. Hardin was charged with murder-domestic violence, a Class A Felony, and tampering with physical evidence, a Class D Felony. She is in the intensive care unit at Muhlenberg Community Hospital due to the ingestion of multiple prescription medications.

CENTRAL CITY, Ky. (7/8/2014) ― A Central City man was found dead in a building next to his residence at 904 W. Whitmer St., Central City, around 7:38 p.m. Monday, July 7.

In addressing the press at the scene, Kentucky State Police spokesman Stu Recke said the name would not be officially released until all proper notification was made. At 1:57 a.m., Recke released the victim's name.

Muhlenberg County Deputy Coroner Ricky King pronounced Ronnie Hardin, 64, dead at the scene.

Recke told SurfKY News that the death is under investigation. He would not reveal the manner of death nor if suspects have been identified.

"I cannot confirm anything right now except it is a death investigation,” said Recke. “Investigators are on the scene now, and that's where it stands."  

An autopsy is scheduled with the State Medical Examiner in Madisonville for today, July 8.

The investigation is being handled by Detective Lonnie Kavanaugh of the Kentucky State Police.  The Central City Police Department, the Muhlenberg County Sheriff's Department and the Muhlenberg County Coroner's Office assisted at the scene.
