MADISONVILLE, Ky. (4/16/13) - Across the country school teachers have found in some cases, when Monday mornings rolled around, that they are having to compete against the hunger for the attention of their children. Even though more than 18 million children qualify for reduce or free lunches, it still doesn’t help those who go hungry over the weekends.

The BackPack Program has been helping children get the proper nutrition and easy-to- prepare food for over the course of the weekend.

Last Friday the Murray State University Madisonville Regional Campus held a Corn Hole Tournament that consisted of 14 teams, which was sponsored by the YMCA, Fitness Formula, Tiny Town, Dr. Pepper, WTTL and Subway. The entry fee was food for the BackPack Program for Browning Springs Middle School.

This year’s Second place winners were Tim Teele and John Perdue. They won a free membership to the YMCA. First place winners go to Jeremy Teal and Curtis Dane, who were also last year’s winners and won a free membership to Fitness Formula.
