Tennessee Man Arrested for DUI in Mortons Gap

grovesJonny GrovesMORTONS GAP, Ky. (7/16/14) — Hopkins County Deputy John Hibbs responded to a complaint call of a suspicious vehicle reported driving erratically Sunday, July 13.

According to the Hopkins County Sheriff’s report, Hibbs observed Jonny Groves, 41, Lebanon, Tenn., operating a motor vehicle unsteadily and appeared to have a badge and handcuffs laying in view site in the windshield.

Hibbs conducted a traffic stop and determined Groves was intoxicated. Hibbs also discovered Groves was in possession of a badge that belonged to the Nashville Metro Police Department that had been reported missing a month earlier, the report said.

Groves was charged with DUI, first offense and no operator’s license and failure to wear seatbelt and out of county warrant from Jefferson County.

Groves was arrested and lodged in the Hopkins County Jail.
