Salvation army_toy_drive_coverMADISONVILLE, KY (12/5/12) — Madisonville and Central City Walmart stores are hosting the “Fill the Truck” toy drive this Saturday December 8th at both locations: 1756 East Center Street in Madisonville and 1725 West Everly Bros. Blvd in Central City.

The toy drive is supporting the Salvation Army of Hopkins and Muhlenberg Counties. Walmart and The Salvation Army have partnered together for more than 30 years to help support those in need. For one day only, this Saturday between the hours of 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM, “Fill the Truck” will help provide new toys and coats to local children in need this Christmas. The event is open to the general public for those who would like to donate new toys and coats to children who take part in Salvation Army programs year-round.

As they enter the store, Walmart shoppers will receive a list of suggested gifts to help fill The Salvation Army’s collection bin. Once the bin is full, The Salvation Army will bring the donations to the Christmas Center and distribute gifts to local children in need. The collection is expected to provide gifts to more than 700 children. All donations made to Salvation Army at Walmart stay in the local communities to help provide food, clothing, shelter, financial assistance and other services to 14,000 individuals from both Hopkins and Muhlenberg Counties.

Community members interested in volunteering for the event can contact Major Joyce Lance or Kassy Holmes at The Salvation Army: (270) 825-3620.
