OWENSBORO, Ky. (9/2/13) – SurfKY News held its final ‘"Soccer Splash" event at Smothers Park on Friday as the Friday After 5 summer-long music series came to an end. Thanks to all the kids and families that participated in the event, the Daviess County Youth Soccer Association, and soccer coaches and their players from local high school organizations that helped make the event a success throughout the summer.

SurfKY News also appreciates the opportunity to partner both with Friday After 5 and Five Guys Burgers and Fries in order to conduct the new event in our first year as part of the Owensboro community.

“It was a learning experience for me and my staff, as we really hadn’t done anything like this before,” said SurfKY Region 3 News Director Dennis Beard. “I feel like it was a successful event, but I know there are things we can do better with the concept. Hopefully we’ll get a chance to offer this event again next summer. We appreciate the opportunity to be able to work with Friday After 5 and Five Guys.”

Photos from the various Soccer Splash nights at Friday After 5 can be found in our archives by performing a search.
