daviess co_fiscal_300OWENSBORO, Ky. (9/6/13) - The first Daviess County Fiscal Court meeting of September was held on Wednesday, Sept. 4 due to Thursday night's town hall meeting.

David Smith, of the Daviess County Fiscal Court, spoke to SurfKY News about the agenda.

One topic of discussion included the Memorandum of Agreement with the City of Owensboro regarding paving a portion of Pleasant Valley Rd. According to Smith, the city would pay the County $9,700 to pave about 700 feet of the road.

The Judicial Center roof replacement was also discussed.

"Bruce's Tri-State Roofing bidded the lowest with a price of $146,500," Smith said. "That price is $30,000 under the budget and will take about two months to complete."

Regarding the real estate tax rates, 13.67 cents per $100 of property value will be taxed by the county. According to Smith, this is the same rate as 2008.

Lastly, the Allen family spoke to the court about the proposed change to the animal control ordinance. This topic will continued to be discussed at the next meeting.

The Fiscal Court meets at 5 p.m. on the first and third Thursday in the Daviess County Fiscal Courtroom.
