OWENSBORO, KY (11--2011) - If you are thinking of getting an eReader this Holiday season, the Daviess County Public Library has the perfect preview for you. DCPL’s first eReader Petting Zoo was held on Tuesday, November 1 from 12 to 11 a.m. and 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.

According to Kim Mattingly, by the year 2015, eBook sales are expected to be half of all book sales. Interestingly, in the last three months, eBook downloads at the library have doubled all of last year’s numbers.

It is with these statistics in mind that the library came up with the idea of the eBook petting zoo.

“It was a group idea,” according to Alicia Harrington of DCPL. “We wanted to make sure people are able to make an informed decision.”

With everything eReaders are capable of doing, DCPL wanted to make sure people were able to get what they wanted or needed, since some offer enlarged text or text to speech.

On Tuesday, over 30 people came to the library to check out the eReader petting zoo. On Tuesday, November 8, the library will once again off the eReader event. Anyone wanting to attend is encouraged to be at the library at 10 a.m. or 6:30 p.m.
