Yeiser to Serve as DCPS Technology Integration Specialist

dcps1 300OWENSBORO Ky. (2/4/14) - Aaron Yeiser has been selected to serve as the Technology Integration Specialist for the Daviess County Public Schools district.

Yeiser replaces Catherine Shelton, who recently accepted the position of director of curriculum and technology at the U.S. Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville, Alabama.

Yeiser has been a member of the DCPS family since attending Utica Elementary School, Burns Middle School and graduating from Apollo High School in 1997 before pursuing a degree in industry and technology education from Murray State University. Yeiser also earned a master's degree and Rank I at Indiana Wesleyan University.

He began his education career at Henderson County High School before returning to Apollo High School in 2002 to begin teaching in the classrooms where he once sat in as a student.

Yeiser said, "Teaching innDCPS and for Apollo has been a dream come true."

During his 12 years teaching in the Engineering and Technology Department at Apollo High School, Yeiser primarily instructed Engineering Design, Robotics, and Computer Integrated Manufacturing courses, earning national certification for Project Lead the Way's STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) project-based curriculum. In addition, he did consulting work for the Kentucky Department of Education in writing curriculum and assessment. For the past few years, he has also directed the Community Campus Engineeringich brought in students from various regional high schools in the summer and early morning hours to explore the engineering field.

Yeiser also has experience teaching adult learners from Owensboro Community and Technical College.

"It was a difficult decision to leave the classroom, but I believe great things are just around the corner," Yeiser said. "This is a tremendous opportunity and I am looking forward to supporting our district with plans for making teaching with technology an easy and comfortable practice for students and teachers alike."

Anthony Sparks, DCPS director of instructional technology, said Yeiser was a strong candidate for the role. "Because of his unique experiences, his relationship style and his desire to stay on the cutting-edge of technology advancements, Aaron's impact will be even more valuable to the students and staff of DCPS."

Aaron Yeiser is available for interviews by contacting him at (270) 316-4701 or by email at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it
