skateboardOWENSBORO, Ky. (6/9/14) — The long anticipated opening of Owensboro’s own Skate Park will be occurring Saturday, June 14 beginning 11 a.m.

The Travis Aubrey Skate Park is an over 14,000 square foot facility designed by Spohn Ranch for our local skating community.

The Ribbon Cutting will take place at 11 a.m. with free skate to follow.

Throughout the day there will be vendors, demos, and lots of giveaways. Killer Skate Park from Evansville, Ind., will be sending their talented team of skateboarders to perform a demo at 1 p.m.

Also, the exciting Dan’s Comp Flow Team of BMX enthusiast will be on property throughout the event showing their skill and riding with the crowd. They will be available to give tips and guidance to all those who attend.

There will be a “Highest Bunny Hop” for the BMX crowd and a “Highest Ollie Contest” for our skateboarders; as well as a best trick contest for each.

Killer Skate Park, Dan’s Comp and Journeys are teaming up with the City of Owensboro to provide contest prizes and giveaways throughout the event.
