2013 Kentucky Music Educators Association 2nd District All District Band

band school 300HENDERSON, KY (11/7/12) – Thirty-two band students from Henderson County have been selected as members of the 2013 Kentucky Music Educators Association 2nd District All District Band.
 
6th-12th grade musicians from the 2nd District, which includes the districts of Henderson, Hopkins, Hancock, Daviess, Mclean, Ohio, Union and Webster counties, auditioned on November 3rd to earn a spot in one of four ensembles. Many of the Henderson students earned 1st chair in their respective section, which is the top spot that can be earned for each instrument.
 
The following students from North Middle School made the Blue Band: Andrew Sauls (1st chair flute), Rainee Terrell (clarinet), Curtis Carter (trumpet), Brooke Grillon (1st chair French horn), Demitri Newton-Beck (French horn), and Drew Reid (trombone).
 
From South Middle School, Lilianna Welch (flute), Riley Kirchoff (flute), Erin O’Nan (flute), Jordan Fuller (trumpet), Josh Clem (trumpet), and Nick Tooley (tuba) made the Blue Band.
 
North Middle School Students who made the Gold Band include Arianna Happoldt (flute), Faith Anderson (bass clarinet), Olivia Sadler (1st chair alto saxophone), Kendra Sartore (tenor sax), Brant Ford (1st chair baritone sax), Olivia Masterson (trumpet), and Brandon Glazebrook (baritone).
 
Henderson County High School (HCHS) freshmen and sophomores who made the 9/10 All-District Band include: Katie Morris (1st chair flute), Magdalena Welch (flute), Madison Hutto (flute), Abigail Meadows (1st chair French horn), Taylor Clapp (1st chair trombone), Mitchell Powell (trombone), and Tanner Jones (1st chair timpani and mallets).
 
HCHS juniors and seniors making the 11/12 All-District Band included Breanna Cox (flute), Morgan Brady (clarinet), Jesse Tapp (1st chair bassoon), Adam Smith (1st chair bari sax), Amy Jones (French horn), and Alex Edwards (euphonium).
 
These students will perform with the District 2 All-District Bands January 10-12, 2013 in Madisonville, Kentucky.
 
Additionally, five students from HCHS were selected by the All-District judges to travel to Elizabethtown, Kentucky on December 8 to audition for the 2013 Kentucky All-State Band. These include juniors Jesse Tapp, Adam Smith, and Amy Jones and freshmen Magdalena Welch and Taylor Clapp.
