2012-13 Scripps National Spelling Bee Contest

spelling beeHENDERSON, KY (11/27/12) – The Henderson County School District Scripps National Spelling Bee will be held on Friday, December 14, 2012 at 9:00 a.m. in the South Middle School Auditorium. Three different spelling bee competitions will be conducted; Kindergarten-3rd grades, 4th-5th grades, and 6th-8th grades. Each elementary school will select a representative in the Kindergarten-3rd grades and a representative in the 4th- 5th grades. Each middle school will select two representatives for the competitions.
 
New to this year’s district competition, the 4th- 5th grade district winner and the 6th- 8th grade district winner will advance to The Ford Motor Company Derby Festival Spelling Bee in Louisville, Kentucky in March 2013.
 
Each school will receive a word list for students to study for classroom competitions. A study booklet for the spelling bee champion will be available so that the winner can prepare for the Scripps National Spelling Bee Regional Tri-State contest scheduled on February 16, 2013 at Ivy Tech Community College in Evansville, Indiana.
