Kentucky State Police Post 16 Honors Its Own at Annual Ceremony

HENDERSON, Ky. (6/5/13) – On Thursday, May 23, the Kentucky State Police announced the 2012 Trooper of the Year, Detective of the Year, Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Officer of the Year and other awards for acts of bravery, life-saving, professionalism and dedication to duty at the Capital Plaza Hotel in Frankfort.  Two officers from Post 16 Henderson were honored at the ceremony.

Detective Timothy A. Payne of Owensboro was named Post 16’s Detective of the Year.  During the calendar year of 2012, Detective Payne investigated 84 complaints and making 84 criminal arrests.  Detective Payne is an 11 year veteran of the Kentucky State Police.
Trooper James T. Gaither of Lewisport was presented with Post 16’s Trooper of the Year.  During the calendar year of 2012, Trooper Gaither issued 1,444 citations, arrested 74 impaired drivers, investigated 25 criminal cases and made 173 criminal arrests.  Trooper Gaither has been a trooper with the Kentucky State Police for two-and-a-half years.
