Outdoors with Big Country – KY Deer Modern Firearm Season

RandydeerseasonKENTUCKY (7/22/12) – It's what everybody's been waiting for since last year! Kentucky’s opener day is Saturday November 10th.

It's all the hype and folks getting fired up for the excitement of the rush of having that big trophy buck to come trotting by their stand site and making that shot of a lifetime!  It's all the excitement for thousands across the state of Kentucky, to be in the outdoors and to see nature from a tree stand or a ground blind! On top of all that, it's a bonus to be able to bring a Deer home for table fare.

Though these are all very important aspects of this season, it’s all the little things we experience while afield, like watching squirrels chase one another or spotting a Bobcat on the edge if a Creek Bank, or even seeing a Bald Eagle soar above!  It's all that God has to offer in the great outdoors that's so rewarding to be a part of!!

To make a season successful is to take a deer, but it’s more successful to be safe and to be able to return home after a day in the outdoors.  Remember to be safe out there!  Be extra safe while afield packing your firearms. Treat it as if it’s loaded at all times!

Remember to take your time on that shot. Aim, breath in and release your breath, relax, squeeze your trigger, and watch every move that your deer makes to make a tracking job short.

I'd like to wish a very successful season and hope that you get a nice buck or doe!  Good luck to all!

On a side note, We at SurfKY News would love to see your pictures of your hunt!  Make a good picture with name, information of hunter and county and we'll try to air them on our site. Send pictures to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .

Until next time, I'll see ya in the woods or on the water! Outdoors with Big Country!
