Big Blue Salute

uk wildcats5 300LEXINGTON, KY (10/13/12) – Rival schools that both wear blue have joined together for a Big Blue Salute! Kentucky’s Jeff Sheppard, Duke’s Christian Laettner and ESPN’s Dick Vitale have teamed up for a unique event in Atlanta where Kentucky and Duke will meet as part of the State Farm Champions Classic game.

Alumni and fans will have a chance to show their spirit and meet Sheppard, Laettner and Vitale at Ventanas, a dramatic 14th floor rooftop ball room featuring floor to ceiling windows that transform beautiful downtown Atlanta into the backdrop of an unforgettable event. Sheppard and Laettner will honor Dick Vitale, Hall of Famer and College basketball’s top analyst and ambassador by presenting a check on behalf of all Kentucky and Duke fans to the V Foundation for cancer research. It’s going to be awesome baby!

“Come party with us at the Big Blue Salute to Dickie V! Where would college basketball be without Dickie V? What a privilege to honor and present the greatest basketball commentator of all time, a true diaper dandy, with a check for the V Foundation! Join us for an awesome time baby with a capital “A”. Check out the items in the silent auction!!” says Christian Laettner, former two time NCAA Champion at Duke.

Cost to attend is $30 per person and includes admission to the event and a T-shirt. To register for the event visit www.ukalumni.net/bluesalute. At the event, alumni and fans will also be able to have photos made with Laettner and Sheppard for an additional fee. In addition, both Sheppard and Laettner will have one of a kind autographed memorabilia available through the event’s silent auction. Proceeds from the event will benefit the V Foundation.

“Everyone has been impacted directly or indirectly by cancer. It is an honor to be a part of a special event that pays tribute to a one of a kind legend, Dick Vitale, but more importantly raises money for the V Foundation for cancer research.” Says Jeff Sheppard, former two-time NCAA Champion at Kentucky.

Special thanks to the Greater Atlanta UK Alumni Club for sponsoring this event.
