Outdoors with Big Country – Preseason Boat Shows

outdoors boatKENTUCKY (1/10/13) – January is a time when if you aren’t out in the field with friends and family, either rabbit hunting or late season waterfowl hunting, or even fishing, you need to catch a preseason boat show.

Preseason boat shows are usually scheduled during the winter season, before fishing and boating season kicks off in the Spring. Personally, I try to get all I can out of the outdoors, so I tend to try to make the most out of time spent with family and friends. I strongly suggest that you take a day or two off and get out of town to visit one of these shows, along with family or friends, as there are several within driving distance of Western Kentucky.

The Louisville Boat and RV show is perhaps the biggest. It is scheduled for January 23-27 of this year, and is located in the Kentucky Expo Center.

Their largest feature this year is the Swamp People, a highly popular television series that premieres on the History Channel. Also being featured is Lizard Lick Towing. Both of these famous television personalities will be there from Thursday through Sunday at scheduled times, along with many boats and RV’s for your viewing pleasure. There will also be motorcycles, ATV’s and many more items to enjoy in over 100 booths.

boat swampThe Nashville Boat and Sport Show will open from January 10-13, located at the Nashville Convention Center in Nashville, Tennessee.

There are a few other local boat shows in such areas as Owensboro, Evansville, Paducah, and the Lakes area. From a personal standpoint, however, I highly recommend the Louisville Boat and RV show, largely due to the fact that it has the largest floor space of all the shows. You can easily spend an entire day walking around and checking out the models of all current models of boats, along with gear to match.

For more information on any boat show and further detail of admission and directions, Google or look up Louisville Boat and RV Sport Show, Nashville Boat and Sport Show, etc.

Gather the Family or friends up and take a day that may just make your spring and summer boating and fishing trips better! Also, this time of year the Weather is unpredictable so dress accordingly! Drive safe and have a great time at your favorite sport show this winter!

Happy boating and good fishing throughout the 2013 year.

Until next time, I will see you in the woods or on the water!
