UK Track & Field's Dezerea Bryant Torches 60m Field

Bryant Dezerea 2013 02 bdmFAYETTEVILLE, Ark., and BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Dezerea Bryant entered Friday as the as the nation's premier sprinter, having posted the nation's fastest 60-meter time and the world's fastest 200m earlier this season. Her performance Friday only solidified her credentials as elite.

Bryant dealt beautifully with having to navigate three rounds of 60m heats at the nation's deepest meet for sprinters this weekend: the Arkansas Tyson Invitational. She won the championship final in a scorching fast 7.16 seconds, which is fastest in the nation this season.

Bryant's time lowered her personal best and school record by .03 seconds.
Additionally, it sits just .01 second outside the all-time collegiate top-10.

Also at the Tyson Invitational, LSU's Jasmin Stowers edged Kendra Harrison in the 60m hurdles final with a time of 8.03. Harrison ran 8.04 and Baylor's Tiffani McReynolds was third (8.05). Harrison's top time of 7.96 still ranks No. 1 in the country this season with Stowers and McCreynolds ranked Nos. 2 and 3 respectively.

Rebecca Famurewa produced a 2-foot-2-inch/.062m weight throw PR mark of
19.42m/63'8¾" to finish sixth.

Kayla Parker entered a long jump competition for the first time this season and broke 6m and 20-feet for the first time with a third-place mark of 6.1m/20'0.25". Sha'Keela Saunders placed fifth.

At the Indiana Hoosier Hills Invitational, Michelle Canterna cleared a season-best and indoor-PR 3.91m/12'10" to finish seventh in the pole vault.

Alisha Adair was second at IU in the 200m (24.69), she qualified for the 60m final earlier in the evening, a race which will be run on Saturday.

Justin Kretchmer placed third in the high jump with a top clearance of
2.04m/6'08.25", and Joanne Imbert produced a long jump PR at IU, placing fourth with a mark of 5.67m 18'07.25".
