Fifty-First Home, Habitat ReStore Are Top Priorities for New Habitat Director In Henderson

hab frankHENDERSON, Ky. (7/29/13) --The Henderson Habitat for Humanity welcomed Frank Lucician to their team as the new Executive Director in early June. Lucician has 40 years experience in affordable housing, developing 2500 units in 10 different states.

He worked for three years at Interfaith Housing Alliance, a faith-based non-profit organization in Frederick, Maryland, and was most recently the Executive Director of Habitat for Humanity of Northern Virginia.

Lucician said building homes was a challenge in Fairfax County, Virginia.

“It was difficult developing affordable housing because of the scarcity of land and extremely high cost of living,” Lucician said.

Lucician said he thinks it will be a much less difficult task in Henderson because the sites are donated and the cost of building is less than in other areas he has worked. Habitat for Humanity has already helped 50 families find homes in the Henderson area, and Lucician thinks working in the community will be very rewarding.

“I’ve found the Henderson community to be very warm and welcoming,” Lucician said, “People are very interested in making the community a better place.”

Habitat for Humanity of Henderson is currently working on build number 51 on 5th Street, which will be a five-bedroom home going to a local family of eight. Habitat will be teaming up with the Holy Name Parrish of Henderson to give the “very deserving” family a home.

The Henderson Habitat for Humanity raises a significant amount of their revenues through their ReStore on South Green Street. The store sells gently used products such as clothing and furniture to the public at low cost. There are new treasures in every day, said Lucician.

“Miss a day, miss a deal,” said Lucician.
