Superheroes from Around the Region Invited to Relay Event

Relay SuperheroMADISONVILLE, KY (10/16/12) – Are you a fan of superheroes? Are you crazy about Superman, Batman, Captain America, Cat Woman, Wonder Woman, or any other famous superhero? Next question, do you have your favorite superhero costume, or can you get one? If you answered yes to both of these questions, then it’s time to slip into the phone booth, shed your secret identity, and fly faster than a speeding bullet to Madisonville, KY, where you can be a real hero.

On Friday, October 19, the Hopkins County Relay for Life will be kicking off the new fundraising year on the streets of Madisonville. This year’s Relay theme is Superheroes. The kickoff event will have booths with games, foods and more, with families from around the area showing up to help support Relay for Life’s goal of finding a cure for cancer. Rumor has it that the Relay superhero, Captain Hope, will be on the site, though this has not been officially verified as of yet. Regardless, Relay for Life would like to invite every other superhero to this event.

If you’re a superhero and you have the costume to prove it, show up and be a real hero just by being there to support this worthy cause.

Are you a hero? Are you brave enough to fight the dreaded super villain known as “Cancer?” If so, SurfKY News will see you on the scene. SurfKY Reporters will be taking photos, and if our supporting superheroes would like a copy of their photo, our staff will be glad to get them to you.

The event will take place on Friday from 5 PM to 9 PM at Court and Union Streets around the old courthouse in Downtown Madisonville. The event is free to attend.
