Central City Woman Injured in Car vs. Train Collision

Accident Injury 01 300CLEATON, Ky. (4/25/14) ― A Central City woman received minor injuries after her car struck a train engine and careened into a ditch in the Cleaton community late last night.

According to a Kentucky State Police report, Trooper Jon McGehee's investigation revealed that Paige N. Wells, 18, was headed west on Main Street in Cleaton at 12:54 a.m. Friday, April 25 while a CSX train was traveling north on the Main Street crossing. Wells failed to yield the right of way to the train and her vehicle struck the side of the engine. The vehicle then traveled off the north side of the road and the east side of the tracks. Her vehicle came to a final rest facing north in the ditch.

Wells was transported by by Muhlenberg EMS to Muhlenberg Community Hospital, where she was treated for minor injuries. She was the only occupant of the vehicle.
