Holocaust Remembrance Day

AlwaysRememberWESTERN, Ky. (4/7/13) – In observance of the Holocaust Remembrance Day (Yom HaSoah), this tradition will start Sunday April 7th, to sundown on Monday April 8th.  

Between 1933 and 1945, the Nazis strived to wipe out all of Europe’s Jews, and the Holocaust was a planned systematic attempt to do so. As the foundation, the Nazis used centuries of anti-Semitism and their hatred was spread by persecution, propaganda and legislation that was designed to deny civil and human rights. By the end of the Holocaust, six million Jews had been murdered in mass-shootings, ghettos, extermination and concentration camps.

We will not only remember their horrific deaths but we also remember their spirited lives. We will remember those who survived the unimaginable and those who risked their lives in order for others to live.  We shall always remember that it is important to speak out against intolerance and protect our human and civil rights.
