Western Kentucky Infant Shooting Investigation Underway

breaking news shooting gunTRIGG COUNTY, Ky. (5/22/13) – On May 21, 2013, at approximately 9:16 PM, Kentucky State Police (KSP) responded to the residence of David Southwick, in rural Trigg County, in reference to a two-year-old suffering a gunshot wound to the head.
 
The victim was initially transported to Trigg County Hospital by Trigg County EMS, where stabilized, and was later transported to Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee, for non-life threatening injuries. At this time, the investigation appears to be that of an accidental shooting.
 
Kentucky State Police was assisted on-scene by Trigg County Sheriff’s Department, Trigg County EMS, and the Child Protective Services division of the Department for Community Based Services.
 
The investigation continues by Detective Kyle Nall with Kentucky State Police.
