Governor Beshear Orders Flags to Half-staff on July 10

garverFRANKFORT, Ky. (7/9/13) – Gov. Steve Beshear has directed that flags at all state office buildings be lowered to half-staff on Wednesday, July 10, 2013 in honor of a Fort Campbell soldier who died while supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.

According to the Department of Defense, Sgt. Corey E. Garver, 26, of Topsham, Maine, died June 23rd, in Zormat, Afghanistan, of wounds sustained when enemy forces attacked his unit with an improvised explosive device. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 506th Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, Fort Campbell, Ky.

Funeral services and interment for Sgt. Garver will be held on July 10 at 3 p.m. Eastern time at Arlington National Cemetery in Washington, D.C. Gov. Beshear encourages individuals, businesses, organizations and government agencies to join in this tribute.
