Hanson, Southside recognized as NCEA Higher Performing Schools

hopkinsschool 300HOPKINS COUNTY, Ky. (3/28/13) – Hopkins County Schools has been recognized by the National Center for Educational Achievement, a department of ACT Inc., for having two schools on the 2012 NCEA Higher Performing Schools List for the state of Kentucky.

Hanson Elementary School and Southside Elementary School received the Higher Performing designation.

NCEA Higher Performing Schools are those that have met one or both of the following criteria over the most recent three years:

  1. students experienced above-predicted growth based on a value-added analysis, and/or
  2. the percentage of students meeting the state’s Distinguished (for KCCT) or Proficient (for K-Prep) standards was above predicted based on the school’s percent-age of low-income students.


Both Hanson and Southside were Higher Performing in Writing, based on growth measure.
