Madisonville City Debt Improves

mayor budget1HOPKINSVILLE, Ky. (4/1/13) – Mayor David Jackson discussed Madisonville City Debt last Wednesday March 27, 2013 at the Lions Club.

“In the City of Madisonville, we have had over 700 job announcements over the last two years. We are really happy to report that we have paid down 20% of the city’s debt. We went from $26 million to $21 million and we are continuing to focus in on trying to get to debt free as possible.”

Last week, two additional departments were paid off. “So, out of 18 departments in the city of Madisonville, now only two departments, the General Fund and The Water and Sewer Fund, have debt. We are going to continue through this budget process to address ways to continue to pay down the debt and committed to keep Madisonville as strong as possible, so that no matter what happens in this economy, we will get through it successfully.”
