Muhlenberg Native James Best Enjoying 'The Sweeter Side of Life'

BEST 300MUHLENBERG COUNTY, Ky. (1/14/13) – Just when you think 86-year-old Powderly, Kentucky native James Best just might retire, he's back at it again!

This time James will be premiering in a heartwarming Hallmark Movie Channel motion picture with Kathryn Morris of the hit show “Cold Case”.

This Saturday night at 8 PM CST, Best stars in "The Sweeter Side of Life". After those many years as the bungling Sheriff Roscoe P. Coltrane on "The Dukes of Hazzard", Best is back to exercising his romantic comedy chops that made him a stand out in the Jerry Lewis 1966 hit "Three on a Couch", co-starring Janet Leigh.

A press release from Hallmark Movies website explains that "Morris stars as a Manhattan housewife who gets an unexpected reality check, City socialite who loses everything after she’s dumped by her wealthy husband and is forced to redefine herself at her father’s struggling New Jersey bakery, played in true form with a father's loving heart by Best at his best.

Morris' character Desiree wants nothing more than to return to her high-class life, spending time with her father causes her to see things differently. She rediscovers her love of baking with her father and puts her business degree to work to save her Best’s shop. Their success at the bakery leads to an unexpected opportunity that forces her to choose between what she has lost and the new life she has found.

Co-stars include Alastair MacKenzie (“Monarch of the Glen”), Steve Varnom (“Broadside”) and Sam Douglas (“Snatch”).

But just like back in the "Dukes" days, Muhlenberg County's own James Best again steals the show.
