Friday Night Drug Roundup throughout Muhlenberg County

Friday0770MUHLENBERG COUNTY, Ky. (2/1/13) – SurfKY News was fortunate to be on the scene of one in many drug busts currently going on throughout Muhlenberg County this evening, on Friday, February 1, 2012.

SurfKY Reporters met up with Muhlenberg County Sheriff Curtis McGehee this evening at around 8:00 at a residence on Welborn Street in Central City where Sheriff’s Deputies and Kentucky State Police officials had located two meth labs and various meth-related items were located. Residents of the home were arrested on the scene.

Sheriff McGehee told reporters that this arrest was one of what would likely be many throughout the evening. “We’ve got around 40 warrants to serve (drug-related) and we figured that if we served them on Friday night, we might actually catch more people in the act,” the Sheriff said.

The “Friday night roundup,” as Sheriff McGehee appropriately referred to the massive act of law enforcement, began at around 6:00 PM, and at the time of the meth lab bust on Welborn Street, several arrests had already been made.

Sheriff McGehee told reporters that he anticipated that there would be more arrests before the evening is up.

SurfKY News will keep you updated as further details on this major sweep of drug activity are released.
