MUHLENBERG COUNTY, Ky. (3/19/13) – Kentucky State Police Detective Scott Smith has charged a juvenile in reference to a bomb threat that occurred at Muhlenberg North Middle School today.
On Tuesday, March 19, 2013, at approximately 10:13 a.m., the KSP was notified by Muhlenberg County Board of Education School Resource Officer Darrin Albro about a bomb threat at Muhlenberg North Middle School located at 1000 North Main Street, Powderly. Two notes had been discovered in a girl's bathroom indicating that there was a bomb in the school.
Emergency personnel from several agencies responded to the scene. Students were evacuated from the middle school and Longest Elementary. A search of the middle school was conducted by officers and canines from the KSP Special Operations Section. No explosives or explosive devices were located.
As a result of on-scene investigation, Det. Smith charged the juvenile with one count of Terroristic Threatening 1st Degree (Class C Felony). The juvenile was lodged in the Warren Regional Juvenile Detention Center in Bowling Green, KY.
The Powderly Police Department, the Greenville Police Department, the Greenville Fire Department, the Muhlenberg County Sheriff’s Department, the Muhlenberg County Board of Education School Resource Officers, the Central City Police Department, the Central City Fire Department, Muhlenberg County Emergency Management, and Muhlenberg County EMS assisted at the scene.
